#1258 Revelation of the Magi

Revelation of the Magi

Just in time for the Christmas season, an interview with Brent Landau, the author of a new book called Revelation of the Magi. I read about the book last week in USA Today and thought it would be a good topic for our Christmas program. (The Christmas program is coming a week early because the radio stations that carry The Book & The Spade will probably all be playing wall-to-wall Christmas carols on Christmas Day.)

This book provides a new perspective on the Magi, although not necessarily new information, since the information comes from apocryphal writing. Professor Landau translated into English from Syriac a document he believes that dates to the second or third century, which purports to tell the Magi’s story. The document has been sitting in the Vatican library for a couple of centuries, largely ignored.

Merry Christmas every body!
