Backgrounders on the Bible through Biblical Archaeology

#1273 Remembering Anson Rainey – 1985

This is the first in our series of archival interviews with Anson Rainey, marking his passing earlier this year. This interview took place in 1985 or 1986. Anson Rainey was one of our first guests and brought with him a discussion on the topic of historical geography in a Biblical Archaeology context. We were just getting to know him at that time, and it sounds like it.

Later in the week Christianity Today offered me a chance to investigate some metal codices that were starting to be discussed in the British media. Here’s the resulting article. In the upcoming weeks we’ll hear more from Larry Hurtado about ancient Christian texts.
