Backgrounders on the Bible through Biblical Archaeology

#1280 Jerusalem Underground

In Hezekiah's Tunnel

Exploring Hezekiah's Tunnel

Water channels, sewers, quarries, structural arches – there is a honeycomb of dark passages underneath the old city of Jerusalem.  An article in Jerusalem’s Haaretz newspaper called the “Time Tunnels” is the basis for this week’s program.  We’ve explored some, but not all of these passages during our Book & the Spade study tours. On this program prof. Schoville and I review the five passages mentioned and discuss their archaeological and Biblical connections. It would take at least a whole day, maybe more, to explore all of these areas.  Maybe some day we’ll get to all five.
