Gezer Boundary Stone

There are different types of archaeology, not all of it involves digging. For instance, survey archaeology catalogs the surface features around an archaeological site. In order to understand the context of a site, surveys are key. More and more emphasis is being placed on surveys to complete the archaeology of a site.

Such is the case at Tel Gezer, an important biblical site that was first excavated over a century ago. Now there are excavations going on in the Gezer water system, and around the Iron Age gate, and there’s a detailed survey around Gezer.

In these two programs we talk with Eric Mitchell, of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary about the survey, and the discovery this year of two boundary stones, one old and one new.
